5 Juventus Scudetto-winning Number 10 duos

‘85-‘86: Michel Platini (30 apps/12 goals) and Michael Laudrup (29 apps/7 goals)

It was the time before squad numbers were individually held, but there was only ever one player who wore the Number 10 when fit for Juventus. Michel Platini had dominated Serie A and Europe for the previous three seasons, with the magical 10 tattooed on his back, finishing each of those campaigns as the league’s Capocannoniere, and Ballon d’Or winner.

In this season, he was joined by another who would also become synonymous with the Number 10. Michael Laudrup had signed for Juve in 1983, but spent the previous two seasons on loan at Lazio due to the imposed ‘two-foreigner-per-squad’ policy in Italy at that time. Replacing Poland’s ZbigniewBoniek, Laudrup’s first full season in Turin ended with two trophies.

Clinching the league title by four points ahead of a strong Roma side, the Turin giants lost just three games, with Platini finishing as the team’s top scorer (again) with twelve and Laudrup weighing in with seven.
Both men also inspired the Bianconeri to their first ever Intercontinental Cup, beating Argentinos Jrs in Tokyo on penalties after the two had scored in normal time. Laudrup missed in the shootout, but the regal Platini ensured victory with the fifth spot kick.

Nobody knew it then, but this proved to be the France playmaker’s penultimate season in Turin, and the end of the club’s period of dominance for some time.
